Apple Watch might not be a big hit in U.S.: Poll

first_imgAccording to a new Ipsos poll, around 69 per cent Americans have seemingly showed a lack of interest in buying the new Apple Watch. The survey also shows limited awareness of the newly launched smartwatch from Apple. The Apple Watch was launched last week in the Spring Forward event and since then has garnered enough attention all over the globe. The Apple Watch will be a brand new product segment for the Cupertino based company. It will be the first product range introduced under Tim Cook, the current CEO of Apple. The company is betting big on the Apple Watch and is confident that the product will perform well in the market but the poll indicates a different scenario altogether. The only positive outcome of the poll for Apple is that 13 per cent people are willing to buy and iPhone in order to use the Apple Watch. As the smartwatch is only compatible with limited iPhones, consumers will have to either buy or upgrade to an iPhone 5 or higher.  The Apple Watch comes in with a wide variety of options and the price range lies between $349(roughly Rs 22,000) for the sports version to $17,000 (Roughly Rs 10,73,000) for the 18-karat gold version. The poll conducted by Ipsos showed that 52 per cent of the people were convinced that the smartwatch trend is just a passing fad and only 29 per cent preferred buying an Apple Watch over any other smartwatch. The poll results suggest lower excitement levels but since the survey was conducted only on 1,245 Americans the result has to be taken with huge amounts of salt.  The success or failure of the Apple Watch can be the deciding factor for the entire smartwatch segment. advertisementlast_img
