Despite being set to start for the team that has produced the last two Heisman Trophy winners, Hurts didn’t make the cut.The list is also not necessarily a reflection of the most likely candidates to win the Heisman Trophy. The likelihood that a defensive player or a wide receiver winning the award are very, very slim. But college football is a big game, and the top player in the nation could very well be a player we haven’t even considered yet.
